Jdeideh or, more precisely, Jdeidet el-Matn, is the administrative centre of Caza from Matn, 7 km away from the heart of Beirut, in the North. It is an integral part of its urban conurbation and spreads over 6 square km. The city is made of three entities, Jdeidet el-Matn, Bauchrieh and Sed el-Bauchrieh. Since the 1960s, the city radically changed to become a 21st-century metropolis. The fields of olive trees thus left their place to very well served areas. The commercial centre, “ City Hall”, the centre of post and communication, the medical free clinic provided the best recent techniques, the sportive complex Michel Elmurr, the municipal theatre, the museum of fishes and the business area are the witnesses of this successful mutation. Turned towards the future, Jdeideh could preserve and highlight its cultural and artistic heritage, be it with the façades of ancient houses or the cave of Nakuzi, witnesses of its rich past.
